GoTo at its best! Vixen has reworked the design and manufacture of its innovative Sphinx Mounts. The SXD2 Equatorial Mount builds on the success of the original Sphinx Mounts. The quieter Stepping motors ensure you of smooth, quiet slewing with quick response to commands. Heavier components and increased loading capacity assure you of a solid platform for observing or astrophotography.
The new STARBOOK TEN, available previously on the SXP Mount, features an intuitive Star Chart Go-To System on a high definition LCD Screen. Features
Increased Loading Capacity: Both the RA and DEC Axes are made of sturdy steel with brass wheel gears. This enables the mount to carry loads of up to 50 lbs for the visual observer and a 33 lb payload for the astrophotographer.
Smooth RA and DEC Movement: The inside of the new SXD2 is very different from the previous SX Mounts. Bearings have been added to the shafts of t he RA and DEC axes and the screw gear shafts. The worm screw gears are inspected for strict concentricity and are lapped in the whole-circle for smooth movement.
STAR BOOK TEN:
The High Definition Color LCD Screen displays astonishingly clear visible information on its 5" screen. Phased star charts and many useful functions can be intuitively operated by all level of astronomers. The CPU processing speed of the STAR BOOK TEN is 5 times as fast as the STAR BOOK and it allows you to enjoy clear and smooth star chart navigation.
Hibernate Mode: After selecting to continue the current setup at the initial screen, you can break and restart your automatic slewing and tracking of the AXD mount by just flipping the power switch, if the mount is still in place, without loosening the R.A. and DEC clamp levers
VPEC and PPEC: The VPEC is Vixen's original periodic error correction preloaded on the AXD Mount. This guarantees highly accurate tracking of the R.A. for successful astrophotogrpaphy. PPEC allows you to refine the VPEC , by adding the result of your own periodic error correction. A record of the PEC correction can be saved.
Artificial Satellite Watching: The STAR BOOK TEN has a menu to find and track artificial satellites by entering the orbital elements of the satellites. the ISS and named satellites are pre-registered.
Celestial Object Database: The STAR BOOK TEN contains more than 270,000 object including Messier catalog, NGC, IC and the SAO star catalog. Celestial objects on the database can easily be searched by number or name. The user has the ability to register and save new objects
Different Tracking Rates: The motion of the moon, the sun and planets and comets are different tracking rates than the stars. The STAR BOOK TEN move the AXD Mount in different rates, automatically, dependent upon the target object.
Expansion Slot: The STAR BOOK TEN has space for an optional expansion unit. The expansion unit has video signal inputs for both NTSC and PAL for capturing and displaying moving images. The use of this image processing enables the STAR BOOK TEN to function as if it had a built in autoguider. No external autoguiders are needed. Add the new Advance Unit, an expansion unit designed for the STAR BOOK TEN controller. The installation of the Advance Unit in the STAR BOOK TEN controller enhances your autoguiding capabilities. With this unit installed you can view an image from a CCD-based imaging camera, record to or play back from a SD/SDHC card and adjust the shutter exposure controls of a DSLR camera.
