We are pleased to announce that Cloud Break Optics will now be hosting classes!  Whether you are new to astronomy or a seasoned veteran, our series of classes will provide you with the information and tools you need to become a better astronomer.  And, the best part is, when you attend a class, you’ll receive $20 to be used on anything in the store!  We currently have four classes on the schedule that you can sign up for today, with more being scheduled for the future:

Current Class Schedule:

October 16th, 2018 - How To Use A Telescope

Instructor: Matt Dahl

Come learn how to get started in astronomy! This class will teach you the fundamentals of visual observing including mount types and their uses, star-hopping, and how to choose eyepieces and accessories. With over 15 years of visual observing experience, Matt will teach you how to easily and effectively find your way around the night sky.

October 23, 2018 - Astrophotography 101

Instructor: Jon Minnick

For those interested in astrophotography, this is the place to start. Learn all about the basics of astrophotography, including information on mounts, cameras, and calibration frames.  Jon will give you all the information to start taking your first astrophotos!

October 30, 2018 - Getting started with Sequence Generator Pro

Instructor: Matt Dahl

This class will teach you the basics for configuring Sequence Generator Pro for image capture. We will cover the basic functions of the program including building a sequence, connecting equipment, and collecting calibration frames. After this class, you’ll be ready to start capturing images in the field!

November 6, 2018 - Autoguiding with PHD2

Instructor: Stephanie Anderson

Extend your exposure times by learning how to autoguide! This class will cover the basics of how autoguiding works, as well as give you knowledge on how to troubleshoot basic problems when configuring your guider. While many guiding software programs exist, this class will reference PHD2 guiding.

November 20, 2018 - Introduction to PixInsight Processing

Instructor: Jon Minnick

Now that you’ve captured your first sets of images, come learn how to use all that data to create and image!  Jon will walk through the basics of PixInsight, including pre-processing, background extraction, color calibration, and stretching.  This course will focus on one-shot color processing.

November 27, 2018 - Automating your imaging setup with Sequence Generator Pro

Instructor: Matt Dahl

Ready to simplify your imaging life? This class will go more in-depth with Sequence Generator Pro, demonstrating some of the more advanced features of the program. These include the Framing and Mosaic Wizard, Plate Solving/Auto-Centering, and Automatic Meridian Flips. This will help you take your first steps toward being able to sleep while you image!

December 4, 2018 - Advanced PixInsight Instruction

Instructor: Stephanie Anderson

Expand your PixInsight process repertoire with this course.  Stephanie will discuss topics such as LRGB combination and noise reduction techniques, as well as possible other advanced topics as time permits.  Previous PixInsight experience and/or enrollment in the November 20 Introduction to PixInsight Processing course are prerequisites for this course.
