USED GEAR INFORMATION
This scope is in good condition! There are some cosmetic imperfections on the optical tube. Due to the tube being constructed out of a highly reflective brass, this is difficult to avoid. The optics are still in great condition after years of use. Includes an electronic focuser, and Tele Vue equatorial mount, hard carrying case, qwik point reflex finder, 32mm Plossl, 13mm Plossl, 7.4mm Plossl, and 2.5x barlow.
The tripod also has some cosmetic imperfections. There is slightly rusted portions on the legs and other scratches from repeated use.
Description
This scope was made to celebrate the arrival of Halley's Comet back to the inner solar system in 1986. Coincidentally, Halley's comet just passed its anthelion--the furthest point on its orbit from the sun--and began the 40 year journey back towards Earth, where it will be seen again in 2061.
This 100mm aperture, f/5.5 scope is a great collectors item, as well as a functional showpiece. A refractor telescope provides the crispest views of the night sky, and such a large aperture will reveal dimmer objects like faint nebulae and galaxies. For the price this scope is a great deal.
