Askar 65PHQ Optical Design
The Askar 65PHQ is a flatfield astrograph telescope designed for astrophotography out of the box. With its five element optical design, this telescope is fully corrected and provides a flat field capable of covering full frame sensors all without the need for an additional flattener. This optical design also allows you to connect a camera, filter wheel or filter drawer, and other accessories without having to worry about back focus.
Building on the success of the PHQ series, the 65PHQ is the smallest telescope in the line, which includes the 80PHQ, 107PHQ, 130PHQ, and 151PHQ models. All PHQ telescopes feature two ED elements to eliminate chromatic aberration. Unlike other telescopes in the PHQ line, the 65PHQ uses a quintuplet (5-element) APO lens arrangement instead of the quadruplet design found on the other telescopes.

Askar 65PHQ Focal Length and Aperture
The 65PHQ features a focal length of 416mm and an aperture of 65mm, which results in a focal ratio of f/6.4. For those who want an even wider field of view and faster focal ratio, the optional Askar 0.75x Full Frame Reducer for the 65PHQ is also available for purchase separately. This reducer gives the 65PHQ a focal length of 312mm and a new focal ratio of a fast f/4.8, which is perfect for wide field imaging. Note that when using the reducer, you must use a standard back focus of 55mm.
Askar 65PHQ Focuser and Adapters
The 65PHQ features a large 2.5" rack and pinion focuser that is directly compatible with the ZWO EAF without the need for additional adapters. In front of the focuser is a 360-degree rotator for easily dialing in the framing of your deep sky object or imaging target. It also features three different threaded connections for connecting a camera or accessories: M48, M54, and M68. The M48 adapter features a female thread inside for attaching 2" filters if the user does not have a filter drawer. Each of the three different sized adapters thread on to each other have a different length of available focus:
- 76mm (from the base of M48x0.75 male thread)
- 105mm (from the base of M54x0.75 male thread)
- 130mm (from the base of M68x1 male thread)

Askar 65PHQ Visual Observation & Other Features
Unlike some Petzval telescopes, the Askar 65PHQ has the ability to be used visually as well when paired with a diagonal and an eyepiece (sold separately).
The 65PHQ comes with a retractable dew shield, a 300mm (12 inch) dovetail plate, tube rings, a handle, the three camera adapters, and finally a manual. The OTA itself weighs a lightweight 2kg (4.4 lbs), is CNC machined, and sports a green color scheme.

Reducer information
Askar’ s newly-launched 65PHQ 0.75× full-frame reducer has a quadruplet design. The 0.75x reduction gives 65PHQ a shortened focal ratio of f/4.8 and a shortened focal length of 312mm.
This reducer, connected with the astrograph, can effectively shorten the exposure time and dramatically increase your field of view, bringing more convenience and possibilities for your deep-sky astrophotography.
The backfocus is the standard 55mm. It comes with two thread adapters of M54, M48 with a built-in M48x0.75 2” filter thread, so it is convenient for connection.
Guide scope information
Askar has launched a new 32mm f/4 guide scope. Its robust construction will provide astrophotographers with a stable guiding solution for sharp high quality images.
Askar's 32mm f/4 guide scope is light, compact and stable. With an aperture of 32mm and a focal length of 128mm, it weighs only 0.66lbs(303g). The design includes a doublet objective lens along with precise X&Y-axis fine adjustment capability
The helical focusing design has been incorporated for smooth precise movements. Users can directly turn the focuser manually to adjust. The guide scope comes with both a 1.25” adapter and M42 threaded adapter, satisfying users' requirements for connecting their imaging train.
The 32mm f/4 guide scope has a Vixen-style finder base bracket for easy attachment.
The scope's elegant design uses either a black or silver coating with a slightly textured feel.
Guide scope does not include a M3-0.5 focuser lock screw.
