Ultra High Performance
The QHY247C has an APS-C 24megapixel, 14bit CMOS IMX193 sensor. This sensor is also used in the Nikon D5300 and D5500 camera. It has 2.7e readout noise at lowest gain and 2.2e low readout noise at unity gain(system gain = 1e/adu), and 1.0e at high gain. The QHY247C is camera has the lowest readout noise and thermal noise in the QHY165C/168C/247C/367C production line.
True RAW Image Output
The QHY247C has the same CMOS sensor like D5300/D5500, but the D5300 and D5500 is not really RAW output even when imaging in Nikon's "RAW" format. You will find the de-noise indications on the raw images from hot pixel styles in the DSLR dark frames. The QHY247C offers TRUE RAW IMAGE OUTPUT and it gives original signal and keeps maximum flexibility and control of your astronomy imaging process.
Unique Thermal Noise Reduction Technology
Besides the 2-stage TEC, QHYCCD has a unique thermal noise control technology to ensure very low thermal noise and makes the entire 165/168/247/367 product line have much better thermal noise performance than competitors.
128MB DDRII Image Buffer
The QHY247C has a 128MB DDRII image buffer to help the image cache to avoid the risk of dropping frames. The data will store in the DDR first then transfer to your computer. It will avoid clogging the USB port when there is more than one USB3.0 camera connected.
Anti-Dew Technology
QHYCCD also provides full anti-dew technology for both the CCD sensor surface glass and the optic window glass. QHY247C has an electric heating board for the CCD glass windows to prevent the window dewing over and a silicon gel tube socket designed to control the humidity within CMOS chamber.
AR+AR optic widnow
In order to avoid halos around bright stars. The QHY247C has an AR+AR coating optical window rather than the common IR cut window for OSC cameras. So you need to use your own IR cut filter (most L filter can do that) in front of the camera. You can install the 2-inch filter on an M48 thread of a 2-inch T-ring. Or QHYCCD supplies an optional 2-inch filter holder for the QHY247C.
