The FSQ-80FC brings Takahashi’s legendary FSQ astrograph design into a compact and highly portable 80 mm platform. With a 450 mm focal length and fast f/5.6 optics, it delivers sharp stars and a flat field across modern full-frame sensors while remaining lightweight enough for travel imaging setups.

Designed for both astrophotography and premium visual observing, the FSQ-80FC combines Takahashi’s fluorite optics with a new five-element optical system optimized for modern CMOS cameras.

Optimized for Modern Astrophotography

The FSQ-80FC is designed with today’s imaging systems in mind. Removing the M48 adapter reveals a standard M48 interface with 55 mm backfocus, allowing many cooled CMOS cameras to attach directly without additional spacers.

Optional adapters support larger M54 camera threads and DSLR / mirrorless cameras, making the FSQ-80FC a flexible imaging platform.

Optical Design

The five-element optical design combines a front fluorite doublet with a rear field-flattening group. The result is exceptional center sharpness and a flat, evenly illuminated field ideal for wide-field astrophotography.
